Module 1: Task 3 - Internet Tools

Oh dear.... This task a little bit hard for me to understand. Before I did the traceroute, I read the explanation at http://computer.howstuffworks.com/router11.htm. Next I used http://centralops.net/co/entralops.net/co/ to traceroute to curtin.edu.au. This is the result :

Through the result there are 21 hops and the average time is 246 milliseconds from the tools site to curtin server. From there I can see the Curtin IP address is 134.7.179.53.
Traceroute is a very important and useful tool for observing and diagnosing network behaviour. It can show you the route data packets are taking across a network, and how well they're making the trip, by, in effect, incrementally pinging each successive hop. This the first time I learnt about traceroute and it is very interesting task.

Module 1: Task 2 - File Transfer Protocol-FTP

I think this second task easier than the first one "Telnet". Today I finished my second task. I followed all the note, started from downloading the filezilla file and ftp to recall.curtin.edu.au.

It's only took me a few minutes to find the file called README.
* ATTENTION MAC, OS/2, MS-DOS and MS-WINDOWS users:
This server runs on a unix platform, so CAPITALIZATION MATTERS!A file named "file.txt" IS NOT THE SAME as "FILE.TXT"

According to the readme file, 'CAPITALIZATION MATTERS.

Yes....!!Finally second task done. I think FTP is very useful and easy to learn and understand.

Module 1: Task 1 - Telnet

This is the first time I heard about Telnet. When I study this unit, I just found the word "Telnet". What is Telnet? I knew it from windows help. Before started I have to install telnet first and then after Telnet has been installed, I just give it a try to open it. I just typed library.deakin.edu.au at first, it appeared Invalid Command. type ?/help for help. Then I found out how to connet to library.deakin.edu.au. I have to type 0 library.deakin.edu.au , but I was confused, once again it appeared another question What kind of Terminal are you using? I asked this question through the discussion forum. One of them told me, Don't be afraid to push the button. :\D That's right, so i just choosed one of them. I choosed the V , ahaaa.....It worked :). More Information about terminal: extranet.edfac.unimelb.edu.au/ed-it_ops/internet/telnet/Key-map .

I was confused to the question about Email Note, but I just type Telnet as an email subject. I just knew that telnet is the oldest forms of the Internet.

I have to acknowledge to towel.blinkenlights.nl. First time saw this, it just made me to say Wow....This is incredible work. Create all of this stuff just by using symbols and numbers. Not easy yeah. It's really cute and very good stuff. When watch this, I felt like I'm going back to the past, Watched Black & White movie.
